I serve on the advisory boards of the lay advocacy groups American Brain Tumor Association (Chicago) which provide critical information to patients with brain tumors and advocates for patient aids and research. I serve on the founding advisory board of the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the U.S., which provides epidemiologic data on brain tumors that is used by lay advocacy groups in petitioning for health care. I have been an invited speaker at lay advocacy groups such as The National Brain Tumor Society in, e.g., New York (NYU) and Florida. I also served on the board [PDF] of the Pioneer Institute, which is engaged in free-market approaches to educational improvement including the charter and voucher school initiatives, as well as biotechnology education.
